I purchased a 2025 three months ago, and I've put around 3500 miles on it. Since the purchase I've noticed that the quickshift seems off, or at least is not as smooth as I see others shifting. It also seems to have an issue sometimes where it goes into 2nd, but refuses to shift into third, and drops into neutral if I let off the gas. I have to pull the clutch lever in a couple times and really kick the shifter up in order to get it to shift back into 2nd and then 3rd when it does this. If I let it drop into neutral and then try to go back into 2nd using the clutch lever, it tends to grind the gears more often than not, like something is just out of sync. Down shifting has never been a problem, I've only had it dump into neutral a couple times going from 2nd to 1st, but this was because I didn't push the shifter hard enough.

Here are some examples of the shifting issues I've seen.
    • When leaning to the left a little and under more load (twisting the throttle more), like from a dead stop turning left, and then shifting up into 2nd when straitened out, it can refuse to go into 3rd and drop into neutral if I let off the gas.
    • If I don't use the clutch lever and rely just on the quickshifter going from 1st through to 3rd it's very clunky at all RPM ranges, but best around 5500-7000 rpm. Everything from 4th to 6th is buttery smooth.
    • From a dead stop, if I gun it hard and shift into second it will go into gear, but not stay in gear and refuses to go into 3rd unless I pull the clutch lever in a couple times (re-sync the gears???), this isn't all the time though, seems very situational and how much throttle (torque) I'm giving it.
    • Low rev, slow moving like in traffic, the quick-shifter really clunks hard going from 1st to 2nd and 3rd.
I've already taken it in and had it inspected and tested, they couldn't replicate the issues and they say it shifts normally "for a Triumph". I've also went through remapping the quickshifter, this seemed to help initially, but after a couple rides it went right back to acting like it did before.

I have also made sure that the oil level in the bike is at the full mark being that this is a wet clutch, thinking maybe this is an oiling issue.

Is this a problem with the bike, or is this more typical of the Triumph transmissions and I'm just shifting this bike incorrectly?

I have a quickshifter on my Daytona 660 (kindly donated by Youles in Manchester at no extra cost). It's my first experience of a quickshifter. Here's what I find..

Going from 1st to 2nd can be clunky unless accelerating hard, which I rarely do off the line, so I use the clutch.

From there on up it works best if the throttle is wound on rapidly, the quicker the better. Gentle acceleration, again, gives a clunky change. This isn't surprising considering the whole point is to give more speed asap, if you're dawdling then why would you need to quick shift? So when used as intended I find it works very well and I love it and I can't see me tiring of that burst of speed.

I haven't mastered smooth clutchless down changes yet but I'm sure that's down to me and not the quickshifter. I'll get there.

From your description it sounds like something isn't quite right, but I don't know if it's you or the quickshifter. If your Triumph dealer has taken the bike out and proclaimed it's ok then it could be your riding style.
As a test, on a straight section of road, from a standstill, use the clutch for 1st to 2nd, then wind it on hard and bang it up through 2nd to 6th, as you keep accelerating and don't throttle off until 6th gear. It should be pretty smooth, with just a tiny blip as it goes into each gear.

    Good luck.

O'H boy i hope this is not another thing i have to look forward to on my 660. I don't rely on the quick shifter and use the clutch. Fifty years of using a clutch and i don't think i would do it any other way. But at present my bike is as smooth as i would like. But only 400 miles so far. I feel if i get any problems the bike will go back and be repaired correctly or my money refunded. Lately my love and faith in the brand has diminished a little. Not because of the bike but the spares situation

Of course you don't have to use it. I've been riding for 45 years so it still feels slightly wrong not to use the clutch for shifting up and sometimes I even forget the quickshifter is there. But when I do use it it's amazing.

Just to say that the Triumph quickshifter is generally regarded as one of the best on the market, and I certainly found the one on my Tiger to be smooth as silk - both up and down and in all gears.
