In the wind yesterday a carrier blew onto my pinging hot header pipe. How best to remove the leftover?
Oh! Mate same happened to me, I haven't got rid of it, tried Solvol autosol and very fine wet and dry but it's still left a mark
Had this happen to me years ago, on my brand new 250LC, parking up at work, a plastic carrier bag blew across the car park, and wrapped itself around the down pipes, at the front just underneath the rad, where upon it promptly melted and shrink wrapped itself to the downpipes. I don't know if carriers are made of differant plastic these days, but I left the bike to go cold, went out at lunchtime, and it surprisingly just peeled off, leaving no trace whatsoever, guess I got lucky, or maybe it was that "black chrome" that Yamaha used at that time.
It should peel off as martingw has said but if not it should polish off, having said that Crispey says he has found this is not working 100% The polished and chrome pipes will not allow the plastic to ingress into it so in theory it is on the surface and should polish off with a bit of elbow grease and Autosol. All the bags are made from Polyethylene. HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) for stronger carrier bags. LDPE (Low Density PolyEthylene) for thinner food/veg bags
This worked on my sissy bar, to remove slight rusting, although i used coca-cola (pepsi should work too)
Wow! Lots of different angles of attack there. Thanks for getting involved folks. I have WD40 and I have Autosol. Ill try the WD first & see how we progress. Cheers all.
