Hi everyone. I have discovered that my valve timing was out. Slightly. But no matter how hard I try I can't get the timing marks spot on!!! The arrow on the crank is either a bit before or a bit after the horizontal mark but the cams are spot on. I've spun it over on the starter and I can't hear any noise! Is this normal?

I had a similar thing on previous DOHC bikes i guess it things like cam chain wear (and tension) affecting the relative positions., Hopefully its well within the difference of moving a tooth round so as close as you can get without having adjustable cam sprockets..

I don't know how normal it is but as Richard says, moving the cam chain one tooth either way will make the timing marks positions noticeably different. And it will then perform like a fart in a trance. If it was okay before then I guess it still will be.
