This may be a real can of worms along the lines of "which tyre" or "which oil" but...

I have been an RAC member for 30-odd years now and frankly the debacle of my car's replacement battery earlier this year means they can shove their renewal where the sun does not shine. But who do I replace them with?

I need rescue/recovery/at-home as personal cover for two people so both myself and Lady Poppy are good for any vehicle. So who's had genuinely good, consistent experiences in this and who with?

AA and RAC seem to quote about the same and both offer a pick and mix system for cover. I havnt needed them so cant say any more.

Try rescuemycar.com they are very competitive in their pricing and do personal and vehicle cover. Fortunately only ever had to call them out once and it was a local breakdown service that came out, no issues, car got sorted.

Not knocking them but my experience is that if you need recovery it’s quite hard to find a recovery truck that will take you all the way if they outsource to local companies.

I never stay loyal to any of them, not now.. Each year my renewal comes through & I call the other main breakdown service & say my renewals come through with your sworn enemy... What can you do for me????. Every year they introduce me as a new customer. I am yet to save any less than £50..
Tight Git Tip 2 or what??

    Triumph Assist is RAC ;)

That said, I just renewed personal cover for me and the wife plus European cover for all vehicles with Triumph Assist as it was cheaper than anywhere else....

I have Auto Aid. Covers you (and spouse) in any car or on any bike. Costs £48. Used twice, once when the TSB starter motor failed and once with the car. Both times arrived within an hour. Sent a specialist bike recovery firm, so loaded in van with me not on trailer. Seem OK to me.

Green Flag recovered my 40 year old BMW airhead from Scotland when the gearbox seized. (Yes a broken BMW!) Only covered for 300 miles round trip so I had to pay an additional £80. Recovered on a beavertail car recovery truck which was exciting loading and unloading.
