Time for a new battery

Discussion in 'Bonneville' started by billyandmollysdad, Apr 6, 2015.

  1. I tried starting my bike this morning, after my first ride of the season yesterday...the battery had been on charge immediately before the ride yesterday, so all was fine. I went to start it this morning, as I fancied a ride out, but it was stone dead. Time for a new one.
I rang Webbs Triumph to see if they had one in stock, which they didn't, so had to order one, 90 bloody quid !! it's a good job I was sat down.

may be worth checking Halfords - Mine did the same last year - Webbs in Eye wanted £79 and Halfords was £59 for the same make model etc and was on the shelf!

  3. I didn't even consider Halfords..
Trouble is, I've asked Webbs to order me one in now.

I'm all for supporting the local dealers - Webbs have sold me 2 new Triumphs now and looked after me...but when its something essential like a battery that goes with no warning and the day is perfect for a ride out with friends I tried a local auto electrical supplier (£46 for an unknown brand but on the shelf) and then Halfords - the annoying thing was Webbs offered no discount even though I was a loyal customer o_O - hope your sorted for the next decent day!

  5. Little update; Webbs called me back a few hours later, they had been doing some research, and came up with an alternative battery for 55 quid, and they had one in stock.
Trouble was, it was too late in the day to get there and collect it.

Yuasa YT12-BS (std. battery as from Triumph) 67 euros including delivery.

Don't forget whenever you get a new bike battery with the separate acid pack it is critical to follow the correct commissioning procedure, to get the very best from it.
