Hi all, anyone had trouble with the seal between the fuel tap and the fuel tank. I bought a new fuel tap which came with a new seal but fuel has begun to seep/drip/run (quite badly) from between the tap and the tank.

    Any ideas ?

My thoughts were to buy a fuel proof sealing compound ? If that is a solution can anyone recommend one ?

    Thanks

    Simon

Check the flange on the tank is flat both ways (x+y) with a steel rule or similar.
    Dress if neccessary.
    Check seal has no damage.
Presumably the bolt holes are blind so check the tap thickness against bolt length.

You may be tightening the bolts against the hole bottom rather than clamping the new tap.

As above, is tank distorted, wouldn't be the first time. Maybe try 2 seals but could it be leaking through the threads of the bolts.
Whatever you do don't over tighten those bolts as they are known to strip.
    See tigertriple.com, steamer section.
