Tiger 900 Gt Front Discs

I bought my Tiger last year and have around 2500 miles in. Recently noticed that I get what feels like a warped disc(s) on applying front brake HOWEVER...it is not noticeable every time. It feels as if I am squeezing and releasing the brake lever and is only really noticeable at slow speeds coming to a halt. Anyone any idea as as to the cause? Everything seems to be ok upon inspection ie nothing loose; discs look fine

On another braking issue, I have excessive travel on the rear brake lever and brake performance is poor (are rear brakes ever as good as we'd like?) I suspect I've been riding with me foot on the pedal, but my question is: are the OEM pads best, or are EBC's a good choice
