    ***UPDATE***
    4th Aug
Thanks to all the advice below i purchased a scissor stand. I used it this morning to fit new brake and clutch levers (short and black, look much better than the standard ones) and to lube the chain. I practised a few times and both lifting and lowering the bike is very easy!
As for the brushed aluminium issue I have found a possible solution which is Harpic limescale remover. When I get some I will try it and let you all know!!

Hello everyone, I became the proud owner of a brand new Thruxton R in June. I've done between 1000 and 1100 miles on it and I absolutely love it. However a few things have cropped up that I need some assistance with...

    Paddock stand for chain maintenance.
Brushed aluminium parts showing cosmetic damage

I have contacted a few manufacturers who make top of the range stands and their stands do not fit the Thruxton R.

I'm keen to know what other owners are using...

Thanks. I shall look into this and give it a try. I imagine as the scissor jack lifts straight up the bike isn't likely to roll forward it topple over..

My concern is lifting the bike on bobbin from a side stand. Even with some blocks under the side stand to make it as upright as possible it would need to be on perfectly level ground to stop it from toppling. I'd be devastated to watch it topple over as I push on a paddock stand

After spending out on the bike I'm pretty much ready to pay whatever it takes to stop it falling over :scream: I was more than happy to part with over £100 For one of the fancy stands with a lever so you can stand at the side of the bike. However I am currently looking at scissor jacks on Amazon

    Welcome to the forum Thruxton
You can adjust the chain on the side stand, but you do need to keep moving the bike to check for equal tension.
Alternatively have someone hold the bike upright and roll it at your command. (Bit of a pain relying on someone else)
If it is mainly for lubrication,, I would fit a Scottoiler or similar.
I have one fitted on my Bonnie and have never had to adjust the chain in 9k miles.

Regarding aluminium corrosion, loads of info and complaints on the forum about that.
