I am really pleased with my Thruxton, out on it at the weekend followed by a run on the Explorer. Now I know they are completely different bikes and each built to a price but the front suspension on the Thruxton is not, how shall I say....good.

Thinking of doing something to make it less harsh and feel like it is at least trying to soak up the bumps, had a couple of quotes for some mods but what have others done?

Can go the full hog with K Tec rebuild, new cartridges etc but that is £5 to £600, not prepared to spend that as it just a Sunday bike, £200 for replacement springs, oil etc is a bit more on the mark.

    Ideas?

    Thanks

Hi TJ, before you spend big chunks of money, have you considered changing the fork oil for a heavier weight version?

That will help with bump absorption. Will cost you peanuts and it's an easy job to do yourself.

I have Ricor intiminators in mine, they're meant to do the job! Never ridden one with stock so can't tell the diff, but judging by what you say, I am fully confident on bumpy bends and braking

I put hagon nitros on mine, suspension is hard on the back.
May look at progressive springs for the front then have it professionally set up.Afterall, it's only me who's gonna ride it as I'll never sell her, not for 20 grand, well, maybe

I havnt had any probs....yet, but hagon s are only 15 minutes down the road to me & I'm sure they'd sort something out.
Nitros have only done about 100 mile, so still need a bit of running in I guess.
New tyres as well over winter so they need scrubbin-in too first beforehand

I remember now....they had issues with paint coming off I think that's why they dropped the different colour ones

Ordered Hagon progressive springs for the front and Hagon shocks for the back.....that's one of the day's spoken for next long weekend taken care of.

We will see how much of a difference it makes.

    Nice one ht.....
Went out on the thruxton today, but it was a tad cold & I spent longer cleaning the bike when I got home than I did riding it.....doah

Always the way.....always the way! I'm waiting to find the time to remove the exhausts and down pipes to give them and the engine behind them a good clean.
