Unless someone has a better way, that's how I Ended up doing mine back in the day. It was a bit of a pain from memory.

It is a pain, but it is the only way to do it properly and not that difficult.
Mudguard off, brake calipers off, wheel out, then just change one fork at a time which helps maintain alignment.
Best just cracking open the top 22mm nut with the fork still in the yokes.
Other option is to just remove the 22mm nut and siphon out the oil with a syringe and tube.
It was a lot easier when forks had sensible oil drain plugs.

Thanks Slowboy and MickEng. Oh well. But like you say Mick i could
think of nothing easier than removing a small bolt at the base of each
fork leg,and Bobs your uncle.Even my 350lc has them.

I fitted Hagon progressive springs and they recommended 7.5 fork oil.
I did remove the fork legs to fit fork gaiters at the same time.

You coule purchase a brake bleeding kit (vacuum type) & syphon using windscreen washer pipe. Measure how much comes out. 1. So you know how much to put 2. So you know that you have got it all out ( look at technical data)

Draper tools sell brake bleeders & large syringes. The bleed kit may come in handy at a later date when brake fluid require renewal

I agree with you in principle Ken, but when refilling It is best to measure with a ruler from the top of the fork to the oil level with the forks fully compressed, that way you can get both forks identical with the correct amount. Make sure you pump the forks several times to get rid of air bubbles.
You never know if the original quantity was right if you measure what you have taken out ?

Bugger! .If only you'do been on here 2 days ago Callumity.
But! If I'd left the fork tops off to get the oil out i'd have lost the spacers, washers, the springs the oil would have gone every where, my clothes would have been ruined, not to mention the fact with the fork tops removed I probably wouldn't have had any damping so the forks wouldn't have worked for me to get up there in the first place ( please don't try this at home ):joy:

So I said ok. But only if I could pick the name. If you think i'm walking
him in the park shouting Fifi or
Tinker bell . So we had a little yorkie
Bodger. Turned out to be a nasty
little bastard IMG_0111.JPG :joy: Bless him he's
    gone now.
