I’m just about to rebuild the head of my T595, which might take a while with various other projects going on. So, I’m wondering, in view of a possibly delayed engine start-up, what your thoughts are on using a little bit of Driven Assembly Grease on the cam journals, risers and cam lobes during the rebuild?
    Is it...
    1) a good product?
    2) worth putting on?
    3) compatible with semi-synthetic oil

I’ve got some Moly Grease (NLGI 2 Compliant) for the valve guides, but wondering if a dedicated assembly grease would also be good?

Many thanks in advance for your insights :)

Thanks for your thoughts...not sure exactly what you mean by airlocks, though?

Grease can trap air in itself whereas oil doesn’t!
Might be talking absolutely balls but I seem to remember a distant memory!

Not an advocate, then? I do get it, the arguments about bikes standing for weeks at a time between starts.

I’m very green to engine rebuilds too, so every step is uphill at the moment. Thanks for your thoughts :)

On the several engine rebuilds I've undertaken, bikes and cars, I've always made up some assembly fluid with equal parts engine oil/molyslip/STP which has always worked fine for me. All thats really needed IMO is some form of lube thats going to stick to the bearing surfaces and not drain away into the sump prior to the oil pump priming the system.

I’ve only ever used the engine oils that are going into the engines that I’ve rebuilt :)
    Never had any problems

With grease, once it's pushed out of the way of the cams/faces, its not coming back until it's pushed back in?

Many thanks @Pegscraper & @dilligaf for that...sounding like the general idea is it seems to matter only a small amount whatever you do/use?
    Cheers, Gents
