So you know about my annoyance at Harry and Meghan plastered all over the news, well there’s something else now which is having the same effect.

    LOVE ISLAND
What is it? Why is it?. Why is it in the news?, who's bothered?. Same with “talent” and dancing shows. It’s all just cheap irritating garbage television. I’d sooner watch my toenails growing than subject myself to that tripe the BBC and other channels put on.

In times gone by we had interesting plays and documentaries, something to challenge the mind. Now all we get is wall to wall rubbish.

Thank god for Netflix and my iPad.

    Rant partially over.

    I'm with you BC.

I've never watched any of the singing, dancing, skating, talent discovering, or look how pretty I am type show. Or any other modern programme they call entertainment these days. Thankfully my wife is like minded. Bah humbug. ;)

Does Bake off or whatever it’s called now, fall into this category?
I love food and enjoy cooking, occasionally, however apart from one or two progs, you can stick most of them into the bin.
There’s also a lot of filler programmes which are questionable, which is why Netflix and amazon are so popular.
The telly tax is a joke.

From what I see my girls watching on Netflix that's just full of shite too, just American shite.

Neither me nor Mrs S follow that shite. It’s aimed squarely at Daily Star readers :grinning:

In fairness it’s not aimed at my age group so I’m sure my parents would have said the same about programmes when I was in my 20’s

TV seems to be aimed at the lowest form of brain cells for that age group now.

    Netflix is all you need

I second that. Can’t stand any of these so called celebrity shows. Look at me look at me, but you don't even know who they are. Total rubbish!

I think a lot of the yoof watch this shite simply so they can join in all the social media chit-chat with their peers, desperate not to be left out. I've heard my own girls saying things like "I'm not too sure about it really but loads of people love it so I'll give it some time", they end up watching it as much out of habit as anything else, prats.

I'm not sure what to make of it all. When I was young I got told that the TV I watched was rubbish and "I don't know what the world is coming to". I scoffed but my elders were right, the world is a much shittier place than it was. So I'm now saying exactly what my elders used to say. So how bad is the world going to end up ?

Even as a kid I was never transfixed by the TV. I'd watch some stuff, obviously, and enjoy it but I wouldn't plan my life around it. I could never understand it when I'd go round to a mate's house to see if he'd want to come exploring somewhere or other on a great day, only to be told that they couldn't come now as so-and-so was on the TV. Nuts!!
