    Hi Folks,

I know this is a bike forum. However based on several past conversations over the years. There are quite a few rugby fans on here as well.

So I figure we could make good use of a dedicated Rugby thread?

A few mates begged me to attend the Northampton V Gloucester game today. Mainly due to the fact I have never seen any local team I'm supporting loose a game for over 40yrs. I'm not a regular Saints supporter at Franklin Gardens. Far more of a part time armchair fan.

N'pton Saints have recently had a terrible run of luck. 7 losses out of their previous 7 games! :worried:

However, after the events of today. (In my capacity as a good luck charm) I have a free ticket & free beer whenever I want to go to a Saints game? Courtesy of my mates! :grinning:

The free game ticket sounds superb :grinning:

I fully intend to make them regret the free beer offer though! :p

PS.... If todays game ends up on TV? Watch the last 2 mins. Even if you aren't a fan of rugby?

I would have to suspect your ‘lucky’ role had something to do with nobbling the ref and Gloucester’s kickers.
It all went wrong for Gloucester in the final minutes when a blatant knock back was adjudged a knock on. The resulting scrum and loss of possession gave Saints the field position from which they scored a penalty try at the death.
As a complete neutral it was definitely a ‘lucky’ win! Competitive and good to watch nonetheless......

As you will know. Rival fans at rugby games aren't kept separate from each other. Something you'd never see at a premiership puffball game!
Consequently there's plenty of opportunities for banter/pisstaking between rival fans.
The 4 guys behind me kept making loud comments throughout the game about this being Saints 8th loss in a row! :worried:

I turned around as the penalty try was awarded in the dying seconds. Just in time to see the backs of their heads dissappearing down the steps :joy:
I hope those gobshites enjoyed their long drive home to Gloucester :p

I hadn't got a clue as to what was going on either and rugby was massive at my old school. We had at least 4 rugby pitches in the grounds ( may have been 5 ).

Having been brought up in Glasgow it was always football, but having had two lads who played rugby at school and having attended school and Aviva premier league rugby, the gulf in player and fans behaviour is incredible.
Even the parents at school games call the ref Sir.
I love football but the overpaid idiots that play it, are wasters in my opinion and have mugged the working classes off for years. Rant over and off to sit in a dark corner!

The average Scot has the highly commendable trait of being fiercely patriotic.
So they are like moths to flames if/when an Englishman winds them up a bit.

    Isn't that right @Sprinter :p
