    Last weekend I took a short break with my wife in the Waldviertel, in the north of Austria.
    But as the morning temperatures were always below 0 degrees Celsius and ice was also to be expected on the roads, we went by car.
    As a highlight, we explored the "northernmost" point of Austria. You can drive on paved roads to the village of Rottal and from there it goes on foot over partly signposted hiking trails until you arrive at the state border with the Czech Republic at a small river, where this point, marked by a border stone, is then located.

    The small river is the border between Austria and the Czech Republic.

    Next year we plan to reach the northernmost point of Europe - the Nordkapp
