IMG_20190708_130932658.jpg The double-Criffel is a little challenge I like to set myself whenever we're in Dumfries and Galloway.

    Part 1:
Criffel is not a large hill by Scottish standards (570m - 1870 feet), but it dominates the landscape around, and the views from the top are stunning. On a clear day, the Isle of Man is visible (not today though) to the west, the Lake District to the south and views of Scotland north, west and east, with the great Solway Firth laid out below. I'm moderately fit for an old bloke, and managed 1hr 30mins to the top (exercises the heart and lungs), and 1hr exactly to get down again (buggers the knees).

    Part 2:
Find a pub selling Criffel beer, and consume until feeling better :)

I've completed part 1, and very soon I'm off to the Anchor in Kippford to complete part 2.
