Going to try and get a test ride tomorrow on something very different to the Bonnie,Tried to go today but couldn't get a reply from the dealer,It is a low mileage bike 11,000 miles on a 15 plate and hopefully will be just what I'm after.....test ride will confirm as only sat on one so far o_O.
Not going to say what it is at the moment but it is very quiet and very comfortable and very economical........Time to slow down and grow old gracefully:weary_face:

    Hi Sandi,

HT does live in an area of the UK where we store a lot of what you'd call Rednecks.
However, I'm still positive he hasn't sunk that low to buy a Niken! o_O

Yeah, DD, a Niken would most DEFINITELY not be something to be riding with rednecks around. I suspect that the term "redneck" means the same thing in the UK that it does in the US. Maybe half ton needs one of these--a Boss Hoss "Gangsta" trike! Boss Hoss is out of Dyersburg, Tennessee. This trike might sit a bit better with the rednecks than would a Niken. But then it's probably not really a "very quiet and very comfortable and very economical" bike as HT described his test ride. :p

A very good choice there Half Ton. They are awesome (yes I know, I am biased) but if you own a Bonneville of any type you’ll know the fueling is abysmal. Nellie is a little better than the T120 I had but still abysmal compared to Waspy. Other than fueling the VStrom handles really great and it’s quite an economical bike too with a large tank Giving good range. The engines go on for ever.
If I could easily dump the Triumph I would as the Strom is the only bike you ever need. I just heard there are potential gear box issues with all models of Bonneville (brilliant huh?)
Let us know how you get on

Bit of an update,I am still waiting to try a V-Strom,The first one is now out of the question as the dealer took too long to get back to me,So I am going to look at 2 being traded in at a local Suzuki dealers on Tuesday...Newer but also more expensive and with no luggage...:worried:

Should have no problems with a vStrom. I had the 1000cc version and it performed brilliantly. Toured Norway, Sweden and Denmark on it without any problems at all. A good all round bike.
