Has anybody had experience of fitting TEC rear gas shocks to their Bonneville? I was wondering what air pressure to run in the chambers, as the range covers 5 to 60 lbs. per sq. in. Is this for controlling compression or rebound? I weigh 11 stone, and won't be carrying a pillion. Thanks!

@ Dave Tucker -TEC gas rear shocks are a significant improvement over the std. shocks in terms of ride quality. The gas container should not be touched as it is set by the factory to the correct pressure - 11 psi according to the instructions.

If you go for the £129 version you get adjustable damping - 16 clicks if I remember correctly.

I have the gas reservoir ones at £89 and find them very adequate - when I ordered mine I got them with 2 sets of springs so I could adjust them for my more than adequate corpulence :rolleyes:.

I don't think you can beat them for the money.

Yo Dave, got 'em on my 2009 Bonnie SE, ok but locknut has tendency to come loose so keep an eye on them 18mm ring spanner with a piece cut out will slide around rod and tighten. Talk to George at TEC, good man. I had one fail just out of warranty, no problem sorted and returned free of charge by return post.

Many thanks for the prompt reply - I've purchased the £129 version, incidentally. I checked the chamber pressure with a digital gauge and it was 37 psi! I'm setting up the spring sag, etc. with the aid of a mate, so I'll reduce the pressure to 11 psi, and adjust the pre-load accordingly.

OK, thanks, mate. Your remarks have been duly noted. George and I have spoken on the phone a few times and he's a bonny lad!

Hi dt and welcome. Make sure those lock nuts are tight as mine collapsed on the roadside and I ended up riding back home on one spring!!
There is another post of mine some where you can look at. Eric

OK, thanks Eric. I'll ensure they're tight! It's always best to check everything after a few miles following installation, anyway. Take care.

I'm looking at hagon 2810's if I do an upgrade, they're about 200 quid, but the reviews seem to be good
