Hi everyone quick ask on a 97 t595 which i bought cheap then spent loads getting up together only for the head gasket to go! my mechanic tells me they are a pig to do as the liners move and screw the engine? is this true or is it a straighforward job? many thanks for any help
The Triumph manual says that you should remove the liners and reseal them when you take the head off (they’re sealed at the bottom with Hylomar) however, I’ve heard of quite a few people who have left them alone and everything has been fine. Thing is, you’ll never know for sure if the seal has been disturbed when the head is removed so you take the risk of a water leak into the sump. I’m just about to change the HG on my 955i and I don’t think I’ll be taking that risk!
