    Hi folks.

Not been here 5 minutes and I'm already having trouble!

I have a 1998 T509 Speed Triple. I've been out and about and covered just over a hundred miles.
Came home yesterday, parked up and turned off.
Went to move it to put in its proper parking spot. Turned key to lock ignition and went too far in to park light mode. Park lights did not come on. They did previously and that's how I notice not to go too far when locking up.
Now when I turn ignition on I get neutral light and eml lights and no other electrics?
The battery is new. There are a load of relays under the seat. It looks like one is missing as there is grease on the pin sockets to indicate there WAS a relay plugged in.
No sign of this relay anywhere that I can see.
    Anyone any ideas?

HUGE thanks if you've got this far and even more if you could point me in the right direction without getting to technical as I'm a simple soul

Post a pic of the relays mate and we’ll be able to help better.

Thanks guys for your rapid response. Fuses all good.
A quick check of wiring I can see notes nothing obviously out of place.
    More pics too.

From the diagram in my manual, it looks like it’s your headlamp main beam relay that’s missing :worried:
That’s presuming your wirings not been changed about.

    You guys are awesome.
It definitely looks like it WAS there.
I'll be on the phone to my local friendly Triumph dealer first thing.
Love to know where it's gone.
I did notice the lack of fan kicking in when I stopped too, but just thought it hadn't got that hot.
I'll have another look outside just in case its hanging about.

    Yep, only 6.
I'll have a look online tonight for a relay.
I did wonder why the bike didn't stop on me if the relay fell out on my travels?
    Thanks again chaps.

    Well chaps. A little update.
    New relay bought from Halfords.
    No joy :(
I have neutral light and eml light on. No other power to anything as you would expect to have. I've no idea where to start with a multimeter.
I have notice the temp gauge needle has gone off the scale ??
It must be something really simple ( He says with fingers crossed!)

Any further help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Andy

First, be careful about your replacement relay - the headlight relays in that position are NOT std generic relays, they have the 86 & 30 terminals in opposite positions; if you buy a generic relay it is NOT the correct one and even when you get things back to working condition, the headlight will APPEAR to be working normally - however it will drain the battery as the coil will be permanently energized.

    Do you have a voltmeter?
What is the voltage measured across battery with the key in the ON position?

If reads good (should be over 12V) leave black probe on battery negative then use the red probe as follows:
You want to touch the exposed metal tabs on top of the fuses (leave the fuses in place!) and get voltage reading.
Ideally check both sides of each fuse (if you get voltage on one tab and not the other, that fuse is blown)
With Key Off you should have voltage on fuses 5-9
With key on, you should also have voltage on the remaining fuses (1-4)

Report back with any non-conformance to that.

Many thanks for your reply. I'll have a look tomorrow and report back.
For now I'll pull the replacement relay out.

    Relay Type Pin Layouts.jpg

You can check the pin configurations - 'generic' relays are type 'B'
You need type A for the hi and low headlight relay positions

I think a trip to the dealer is in order. I'd rather have it right where electrics are concerned.
