    Hi everyone,

I'm used to store my disc lock in the small compartment under the passenger saddle. Today I noticed that the latch seems jammed as the lock may have shifted forward during heavy breaking. So I'm kinda stuck as don't know how to release the bloody thing ! Please don't suggest launch control and wheelies to move the disc lock rearward...

    Any ideas lads ?

    Thanks !

Can you get a wire coat hanger under the seat to move the lock ?
Failing that, try a strong magnet.

    Hi,

This is a 2016 speed triple,
There is a cable, but it must be routed inside some sort of rigid hose.
I can't see any option to get my hands on that cable

    Cheers,

Looks like you may have to purchase another disc lock until you can get under the seat, it may free itself in time with riding and banging about over speed bumps.
Don't risk getting your bike stolen

Having looked at the seat lock on the parts diagram, it looks very similar to the early Trophy & trident and I suspect if you pull the outer sheath it will operate the lock, I'm guessing its routed up the inside of the LHS rear footpeg hanger.

Push down on the seat just above the lock at the rear of the seat as @MickEng suggested as you pull the cable, its probably going to be a bit stiff if its wedged, this should take some pressure off the internal catch

I did a couple runs on the street down the corner, it has several speed bump. With a bit of luck it finally moved out of the way, so problem solved :)
Thanks guys for all your suggestions,

    Cheers,

    Hi Remi,
Glad the speed bump trick worked.
If you have any Kusmi tea going spare please feel free to send it to the MickEng benevolent fund.

    Hi guys,

Duly noted for the Kusmi tea request ;-)
I'm considering installing a DIY bracket somewhere on the frame to carry the disc lock while on the go as per dozer dad Mentioned.

    Cheers,

    Hi mate,

Agreed, but I already own an abus disc lock that I don't intend to change, since this one is approved by my insurance company. Overseas security ratings like thatcham etc.. aren't always recognised by insurances (I live in France).
ThAt being said, I have access to CAD + laser cutting + press bend + welding + powder coating at work, so I'll have some fun making a bespoke item.

I'll try to get it done this week,

    Cheers

You don't need anything fancy, just something to hold the lock when it's not in use.
Steve Lovatt posted a picture of an ex army black leather pouch that he fastened to his Bonneville frame with tie wraps.
I got one myself of fleabay for £6, they are a good solution for carrying a disc lock.

Who would have thought that a bloody speed bump could come in useful:confused: glad it sorted itself for you.
