Street Twin 900 Not Shifting 1st --> 2nd

I bought a 2017 Street Twin 900 a couple months back with only 3000 miles on it. Over the last couple days I have had it completely fail to engage second gear and still be in 1st when I drop the clutch which is incredibly disconcerting, dangerous, and I can only imagine bad for the bike.

It is happening about 1/3 of the time now, and it's definitely the transmission, not my foot, I've tried pushing up harder and very deliberately and 1/3 of the time it just doesn't go up from first at all, not even into neutral.
