Hi, after anyone’s good advice to the newbieish still.
Was out riding today for a couple of hours, pulled over for 5 minutes.
Turned the bike on, it tried to turn over once then nothing. Then tried again and nothing, in the end got a push and bumped started to get home.
Once home tried it again and fired up straight away.
What I didn’t notice when it wouldn’t start was when I turned ignition on the noise it normally makes ( like a groaning woman ha ha ) it made that for ages rather than just a couple of seconds.

it’s a street triple 2010 never had any issues before

    thanks

    Battery. Battery and battery.
Ignore the voltage. It's the amps that you are describing tbh.
If you do get it started though, put a voltmeter on the battery terminals to see if it's 13+ volts with engine running.
If not, it's the rectifier not charging it so even if you change the battery, it'll soon happen again sir.

WOT HE SAID .... but with early Streets it's as likely to be the stator that has burned out (a fairly common problem) and, quite likely, taken the reg/rec with it ....... so, check the alternator and reg/rec. And also spray some switch cleaner into the starter button - in fact try that first and see if it makes a difference, if not, go back to the original plan to check the charging circuit.

    Good luck.

Hi thanks I will try, would that be the reason the fuel pump or primer what ever it is seemed to run for ages when turning the key on. It just groaned on and on way more than normal

    thanks I appreciate your advice

+1 on the spraying the starter switch. Had a 2015 Street Triple where the starter switch was playing up. Sometimes it would start, sometimes it wouldn't. A spray of contact cleaner into the switch kept it working for several months. In fact it only failed again the day I PX'd it.

So today I put the meter on it,
Key turned off about 12.7 v
    Key turned on 12 v
While starting dipped to around 8v
    While running sat around 14v

started every time time today ....... but I think battery could be on its way out ?

Yup, the crank voltage should not go below 10v.

Doesn’t a low cranking voltage also risk damaging the starter clutch?
