Thanks for the add. I guess it was inevitable that I bought a Triumph. I have read so much since their resurrection in the 90's and always been a fan the of marque and especially triples. Anyhoo, I have bought a 2002 Sprint RS with ( according to the seller) a 955 Daytona engine. Can anyone point me in the right direction to identify the motor? The engine number is X149702. Thanks in advance.

Go to Triumph Dealership , plug in the ECU , the mapping will tell you !
Or find someone with all the "tuneecu" gear and get them to do this.

Hope this will tell you what you wanted to know.

As promised, here is my new beauty. The extra muffler came with the bike. Still have to iron out a few little gremlins. The other day it cut out on me at prolonged idle as temp rose (but below fan assist). I watched the temp readout while riding, and it seems amazingly sensitive to moving or stationary. Not sure if this is normal. Checked the coolant (OK) and oil (OK), then took it for a ride and idled until fan came on (103 deg, so OK) but the engine light is now on. Read somewhere that if only a temporary issue, the light will go out after 3 heat cycles. We'll see how that goes. Booked in for a full service in a fortnight..

So the engine light was coming on because the battery was not charging. Surprise, surprise. Reg/ rec needed replacing. The guy who sold it to me probably thought (like most who don't research) that stator was on the fritz. All's fair as they say... Cheap st1050 ($40) one on ebay and all good. Wasn't a daytona engine btw.

Cheers Joe. I also like the yellow - though not as much as the T595 Strontium yellow. I'm an older rider and appreciate being more obvious to dimwitted car drivers.
