On the news before it reported that 6,000 speeding drivers has been prosecuted since the lockdown. While walking the pooch about 9pm, I saw about 50 - 60 cars, none of them was keeping to the speed limit. One car that I saw coming towards us was doing at least 60 mph in a 30 zone. As it came towards us I waved my hand up and down in a slow down motion, and pointed up the road in the direction she was going, It was a woman that looked in her 30's. The brake lights immediately came on. I felt quite chuffed thinking that she would have now been doing 30mph for a mile or so looking out for Plod.
Easy Tiger Have to agree with you some morons out there. I go to work on the bike and have slowed right down as I don't want to add to the hospital work load and would love to stay away from Hospitals for a while. But there they are flying out of side roads or blasting past. It really is scary some times. One time I am glad plod is taking them to count. Regards Joe.
Dozers Dad. Time and a place. Not in villages or out side peoples front door. But really I worry about the hospitals now with the virus. Really its a good place to find it if you were looking. Me I want to keep well clear. Do love that trike. Regards Joe.
I live on a 30mph road and I am constantly amazed at the number of drivers that drive at well in excess of 40 or 50 mph passed my house. It happens at all times of the night and day and includes young and old. What makes it worst is that 100 yards from my drive a 20 mph zone starts for a couple of schools and yes you have guessed, they don't even slow down for this. If you wave at them to slow down all you get is the finger, they are feckwits ... Don't get me wrong I ride a motorbike and will push the limits when on the open road, but in urban zones try and be responsible and stay within the limits.
Its not only speeding , It's total lack of awareness. On a fully liveried bike I get people coming out of side roads, suddenly seeing me and the look of surprise on their faces, many people are looking as they do rather than before they do at the moment, this includes junctions, roundabouts and lane swapping. Riding at the moment in suburbs is actually getting riskier not safer with the lack of traffic
Same here Wessa. There’s a primary school across the road from us and we regularly see cars overtaking on this 30mph road, right outside the school. Thoughtless idiots. Like you I like to get a bit of a lick on on the open roads if it’s safe to do so but always slow down in towns and villages.
I thought of this thread when a friend sent me this video.... Empty roads and drunk drivers. Seems he's recovering well after they cut him out of his tin can, but may get done for dui.
Hi all and hope you are all well, regarding speeding and the consequences when things go wrong, look up "speeding car driver and accident with motorcycle" posted by Yorkshire Police a little while back, very sobering and great to see his kit saved him, look at the video and you'll see what I mean.
Is that the one with the Subaru in the head on? Welcome to the forum too mate, from a fellow Lancastrian.
Hi Freck, you are spot on it was, it came to me a couple of days after it happened, had I not know he was ok (relatively) I wouldn't have watched it, a few days ago a car driver was clocked at 125 in a 30 limit, if it had been a fellow biker we all know what would have happened at court, it'll be interesting to see what happens. Take care freck and safe riding when we get back out.
That’s insane... What a complete arsehole, needs nailing up! seems this was filmed in Poland... but he still needs nailing up!
There was another, filmed by a car dashcam, van undertakes, overtakes, then takes off at the roundabout.... Some right choobs out there, so there are.
Here you go, Stag roundabout in Attleborough. I like the way the dashcam car just carries on and leaves him to it. Caring in the community!
This accident was on a road I go on fairly regularly, as it goes to a pub we like going to, ont top side of Sheffield. T'road is only just wide enough for 2 cars, and not somewhere tha would get thi foot down. Well, not if thad got half a brain! Also, a police motorcyclist was killed here in Sheffield yesterday. He was in collision with a car, whilst pursuing a car which had failed to stop for t'police.
So the irresponsible behaviour of a single nob head has cost the life of a policeman... should be locked up and the key thrown away.
