I have a Speed triple RS. All good apart from, since the 6k service, I have noticed
a whine in 3rd gear and also to a lesser degeree in 1st and 5th.

Is is not excessive but does appear to be becoming more noticeable.

It is there when riding at light load or decellerating at around 3500 rm to 5000 rm. accelerating harder
or other rpm seems fine. It has 8500 miles on now..

Has anyone noticed this and whether is normal with these engines ?

    Thanks.

I think they all do it to some extent. The 675 I just bought does the same and I quite like it.
    Regards
    Joe.

Cheers Joe, that is comforting, If it had been the same since new I wouldn't have worried, but with it getting a bit worse I was concerned something was wearing. I don't know the significance of this being only under light load and specific revs . I had a VFR800 with gear driven cams.. that was a naturally whiney engine but always stayed the same.
