First car I ever had was a 850 Mini complete with sliding windows and pull cord interior door opening.
The starter button was positioned on the floor.

Are these new one Minis the same Jez.

Here is Mrs H’s. 11 Years old now. Great little car. It’s the Cooper D so tons of torque, about 53 mpg and £20 a year road tax. Has the Chilli pack and heated seats so a great spec.

    Yep those were the ones.

My girlfriends (now wife) brother and I fitted new wings and gave it a complete respray, it looked great until she was in collision with a coal wagon. Drivers side front wing, wheel, new tyre and front subframe fook.
Had to start all over again

I had an 850 back in 1982, it was a 1972 model and so rotten the driver footwell was a flattened Castrol GTX tin pop riveted in and smeared with filler.

That always reminds me of when they called my name at school assembly, Cooper D, and I shouted present Sir.

My first car was a Wolseley Hornet. 998cc and a bigger boot ('trunk' for our cousins across the pond!). Gearbox was knackered and we could only get hold of a replacement from an 850cc model. Lowered the gearing considerably! Oh, and the speedo had a walnut surround - dead posh!

Once worked on a Wolseley Six. Now that was a nice car (in it's day). It had come for repair and sounded nice until you pressed the brakes too many times. My industrial unit (my self employed days) filled with sweet smoke and a neighbour nearly phoned the fire brigade before I stopped him.
It turned out the master cylinder leaked into the vacuum servo. The engine sucked the master cylinder dry and burnt the whole lot.
You couldn't see a bloody thing through the smoke for half an hour.....

    How about a Morris Ital?
Uncle got a new company car and used to let me take it for test drives. Autobox and in a lovely lime green..... Now those were the days with FREE company fuel :p
