Was never a great believer in these kinda products till my daughter got an MG ZR last year, as her first car. Felt a bit hesitant and just didn't pull like the other ZR's I have at the school. Was a low mileage, short commute by previous lady owner, as it only had 53K on the clock at 13 years old.

Redex was on offer at Tesco, £2.50 a bottle, so chucked a few in for fun and it I definetily felt it helped 'loosen' the engine up. Allowing it to rev a lot more freely.

Just found this on YouTube, seems to agree with me and a bit more scientifically than just my 'feeling'.

As with the clip, first thing I do on buying a car is plugs, oil, filters, etc. Didn't do those on the Focus ST (serviced just before I bought it), but still did the redex as the car had only done a couple of hundred miles over the past 12 months. Again, the car felt more responsive. Currently chucking some in my wee Rally Mini, with doing a full service, and again it seems to help.

Snake Oil ??? Maybe, but at £2.50 a shot, it's worth a try. As it says in the clip, once you've done 3 or 4 tankfulls (£10), not worth doing again.

And that’s kind of the point. You can de-gunge old fuel lines but then reduce periodic maintenance considerably because modern fuels are themselves dosed with solvent - and Redex is predominantly methyl alcohol and paraffin.......
