Anybody used one of these? I'm of the school that if you use a new crush washer or annealed copper washer this is probably not necessary, I've not had a sump plug leak yet... But it's interesting as a discussion piece. Surely the o ring is going to get fuffed up by the threads? Dunno... What do you think?
My thoughts exactly.... I always have a box of various sizes. Could you get a nut too though ? What do you think of the idea though? I can see a neoprene washer maybe working, but it looks like they use an alloy washer on many of them, along with the o ring in the threads. Suggests the o ring doesn't work, rather, you think?
Yeah, that's my thought to be honest. Can't see how the O ring is going to survive the threads cutting it up. Reading the blurbs, it's supposed to stop the sump plug working loose.... But, if you torque it up right it ain't going to come loose anyway!
That’s an answer to a question no one has asked. I’ve never had a sump plug leak, like everyone else I just replace the copper crush washer and torque it up.
There's some that cost £15+! That's an expensive copper washer! Like you I've not had a sump plug leak either, on any of my vehicles. Plenty of other leaks though.... You know what they say "if it ain't leaking, there's no oil in it".
Tell you what IS scary.... I'm now seeing adverts for Smart O sump plugs.... Every page I open. Shhhhit. Big brother really is watching me!
Just a magnetic bolt and a copper washer do the job for me. Never had an oil leak in my 35 odd years.
That’s odd, I keep getting adverts for mature ladies between 30-50? My mrs must be searching for some friends or summation?
