OK How about the weekend of the 15/16 August.
Or the weekend after 22/23 August
    Either is fine by me.
And the location is Frankfurt am Main

As I mentioned before, I’m going to make this a week long trip, but for those of you who have to get back home that’s no problem.

If I go, the 15/16th would be best for me as the later date is too near the Spanish trip.

It's looking like the GMU is not happening ,
I have an appointment on the 10th july with the consultant. Depending on how quick or how slow he is sorting out my procedure will make up my mind if I can go.
What's the crac with accomadation if I can make it ?

Wayne, I arranged accommodation in a hotel here in my hometown. Roomrates incl. Breakfast range from 70,- to 120,- (see here https://www.hotelzumschiffchen.de/hotel/preisliste/ ) Webpage unfortunately only in German. As soon as we have a date agreed on and know, how many rooms we need, I am going to talk to the owner about special deals (if possible; they also suffered big time during lockdown).
It is a family-run place and has been handed down for some generations. I have been baptized there, my parents went to their dances in the 50ies...

As I told Nikki, that due to my quite stressful situation at home with my dad, I will be available as tour guide and emergency contact for lost keys and other strange happenings for two days. Then you enjoy the environment on your own, or the circus moves on... Nikki plans to go on to Dresden.
    Up to you.

Today, I did a little reckon-mission in the hills and woodlands. Triumph/Yamaha gave me this ‘til Friday to check out (he said)...

Boy oh boy... I really do not know WHOM they built this for. The frontwheel-suspension is really very complex and the bike rides, like on rails. BUT!
Sounds like a lawnmower, is too high for me (I am 1,80), is quite heavy (260kgs) and costs 15000,-€
I will not comment on the design.

So, the hills are waiting for you :p

Another thing: What about everyone coming from GB...!? After returning home, do you all have to be quarantined for 14 days if this rule still prevails in August!? Or does this only apply to foreigners when entering GB?

We will keep an eye on all the Corvid rules and restrictions.
Can’t help this. We have to be flexible, I guess.

    Cheers

As I understand it, if you land in the Netherlands from the UK you will have to quarantine for 14 days, as the UK is deemed to be one of those risky countries. Whether this will change, I don’t know. If you land in France instead I don’t know if those same rules apply.

I think I will - If I can leave on the Friday, and make sure I'm back on the Sunday I can probably make it work.

    looks like it’s not compulsory.

    • Everyone arriving in the Netherlands from a high-risk area is strongly advised to self-quarantine for 14 days immediately after arrival. Within the EU this applies to travellers from Sweden and the United Kingdom. For an overview of high-risk areas outside the EU, see the EASA list.

That puts a question mark over things though. If I landed at Rotterdam and things were a bit tetchy ???

Well it just says “strongly advised” to quarantine. It doesn’t say it’s compulsory.

Well, I am no medical expert. Right now, I am only frequently checking the new cases in all the different ‘counties’ here in Germany.
I would not travel to a German town that is just about to bust the limits. And therefore I would also appreciate for people living in such a town to stay put. That’s a responsibility we all have.
When I came down with a nasty cold before Corvid, I also did not go to a bar or concert just for the sheer sake of having fun (and spreading the disease while I am at it...)

EDIT: I just checked... The UK is not considered high-risk area according to German law right now!
There is no recommendation for quarantine.

Let us just wait how things develop. I can book the rooms as soon as I know how many riders are planning to come.
I will also ask about cancellation policy at the hotel.

Now, I do not know how well in advance you have to book ferry or tunnel these days!?
My guess would be that they are both not awfully overbooked?
