So after getting tellulah and and thinking of security I came across 22mm galvanised short link anchor chains, Would these not work better than a 12mm bike chain say from Oxford or mammoth and for half the price. There is obviously a reason, I know the links are shorter so liits the lock yiu can used but what else is there.?
Loads of videos but the chain is itself only one link in your security system from ground anchor to simple camouflage with a grotty cover.
I'm almost tempted to delete this thread after watching a couple videos I suppose it would be an extra deterrent if used alongside a hardened chain/anchor/alarm

What are those Lever locks locks like? The ones that keep the brake Lever engaged. Waste of time or worth it as a cheap deterrent?
Will make the job of an opportunist harder but the pro's will just cut the brake cable (see MeTunnel articles)
Abus make very strong locks. But whatever the lock, an hand hydraulic clamp cutter, or a cordless grinder will cut them all. I never secure my bike in my town. Would probably do it in big city.
Depending on the bike I guess. My striple is locked rear sprocket, under the top chain, and tightly fitting so you would have to cut through the chain, then the lock. And the ABUS or Abloy is one tough nut to cut.
Anything can be stole if ad killed and talented enough, its mainly to deter those opertunist scum. I thought the town would be safer as its busier?
A lot of what is said above is true, a PRO theif would us a slider under the wheels or a skylift in through the sliding door of a Sprinter. Chains to static objects go in one of two ways, portable grinder or hydraulic jaws. You wouldn't even hear the alarm as the noisy van pulled away, less than 20 seconds off the side of the street. These idiots on mopeds, now they're little feckers and I'm glad the OB are now ramming them. They are what I consider oportunists. For these guys just be sensible where you park it, cover it with an ugly old cover and use a hardened steel chain, the thicker the better (takes longer to grind) conected to something solid (ground anchor) if only in the drive or on the street. Box it in with cars if possible.
The trouble with any security forget to use it and the insurance bastards won't pay out State you haven't any and I don't the premium is much more
