My scrambler 1200 Xe still has its metzerler tourance tyres which grip well but there a fairly old tyre so I was wondering what else folks are putting on there scrambler 1200s or large adventure bikes and what they think to them?.
Adventure rider is the place to be if you would like any kind of response! I have just read through 284 pages on the 1200xe, some one has just started a tyre thread on the 1200xe and also it has its own exhaust thread, just saying!!
just road Haro, I fancy some light off roading but in reality it’s just a fancy road bike, I’ve used Avon trail riders before which I found pretty good on the road.
You can get a few of the Avon's and Michelin in a road tyre with a 21 inch front as well, plus the new Anakee Adventure,
Well, the Karoo 3 rear isn't going to last much longer, may see about 3500 klms out of it. Been great on the road and fine off road, but wear is fairly quick. Lucky I picked it up cheap. Thinking I may give the AX41 rear a go next, how have others been finding them so far? Golden Tyre front has 5000 klms on it now and has slight cupping but has been excellent everywhere so far. Probably about a 1/3 worn now.
AX41 Adventurecross rear fitted. Waiting for the front to arrive and be fitted after the shop fitted a AX41 T touring front by mistake. That AX41T feels very good on bitumen and hardpack dirt and light gravel in dry conditions so far. The low height of the knobs stops any movement through them squirming like on the GT823.
Nearly 4000 klms travelled and wear isn't too bad so far. Handling has been very good everywhere so far. Bitumen handling is exceptional wet or dry.
6000 klms on the AX41s now and still a fair bit of wear left in them. Been riding in the rain on wet roads past couple of weeks and no slip or any kind movement from the tyres. Metzler have a new Karoo 4 to replace the Karoo 3 out now too. https://www.advpulse.com/adv-news/metzeler-karoo-4-dual-sport-tire-launched/
