Sorry to hear about this stolen bike, but given the price tag I'm not surprised to read about one having been nicked. I hope they recover the bike undamaged....

 

So sorry to hear of the loss of you pride and joy. I do hope they get it undamaged.

OOP'S Well I express the same wishes to any owner who has had their pride and joy pilfered. Even if you get it back it is never the same bike. Should be a better deterrent for thieves.

Eeeek, sad times for the owner

For my R3 TFC, I was required (by my insurance) to either get a Thatcham approved ground anchor installed in my garage (AND use a Thatcham approved chain AND lock), or get a biketrac tracker installed.

Given they only told me this 2 days before collecting the bike, and to avoid having a trip hazard permanently mounted in my garage floor, I went with the tracker - which had the additional advantage of not being required to carry the heavy Thatcham chain+padlock around with me, and using it every time I got off the bike in order to actually have insurance.

The tracker is actually really good (I sometimes get a call from them if I forget to put it in 'service mode' while I'm cleaning it ), but it wouldn't really stop anyone from 'having a go' and picking it up and slinging it in a van ... maybe I should get the ground anchor and chain after all

 

where would you slide the chain through? doesn't look like many easy places to loop it to an anchor.

 

I'm sure it'd go through the rear wheel, but it might be a bit awkward and risk dinking the wheel ... or possibly around the drive shaft.

Either way, I didn't fancy it, and the way my bike needs to be oriented in the garage, I'd end up having to back out over it, and drive in over it, increasing potential problems further.

Maybe a good quality disc lock would be worthwhile, making it harder to wheel out of the garage, it'd have to literally be picked up, right?

 

Looks like he's got it back, bit of a state though, transported on it's side in a trailer and then ripped apart trying to get it started.

I had kinda assumed it was 'stolen to order' given what it is ... instead it's just some idiot who probably didn't even know what he had.

Let's just hope Triumph can repair it, and that they bring it in under the value it's insured for so that it does actually GET repaired.

If not, can I get a new plaque printed saying 243/749?

 

@chris hill Oh yeah, weird. Why would you put crummy decals on such a bike ... or any bike really.

 

Yeah I realise ... it's weird.

I thought maybe there were some pre-damage comparison shots, but there's one of the full bike, where you can't really tell due to quality, but it looks like there's no damage on the tank OR the rear panel, but instrument cluster is hanging off.
