To pass the time, I may remove the backrest from my Rocket 3R (that I had fitted as an option on delivery!) . I just fancy seeing how it’s done, learning a bit more about my bike and also seeing how it looks with the original pillion seat on. I have the backrest fitting instructions - they just refer to removing the mudguard under tray as per the service manual. Has anyone done this? or anyone know of how to access the service manual? I may just be able to have a look and tinker, but would prefer to follow a guide if possible.
Hi @Dobbo The under tray is held in with four bolts These two are underneath Here....one either side of the bike 8mm socket or spanner two from the top underneath the seat Allen heads here and here after removing these I used the side of my hand/fist and bumped the tray towards the shock to release it from the clips six of them hold it in place and they can be a bit of a pain trying to get them back into position but I’ve done this a few times now and now have the hang of it Hope this helps
All done, nice and straightforward - thanks to Dilligaf for the photos and guide! Nice to see my Rocket back in standard trim without the backrest.
