Sad to see him go - BUT great showman my ass. I went to see him at Newcastle City Hall in the late 70's. We had heard reports from other venues that his shows had been short but hoped for better. He came on stage for 20 miniutes then left. 20 minutes FFS. Some dispute about his fee I believe. No respect for his fans whatsoever.
it must have been a common thing in the American south back then, did Jerry Lee lewis not marry a distant cousin when she was only 13
forgotten about him,i think she was older when they married, but he had been "with" her when she was about 13 too
He was jailed for 3 years for "Transporting a 14 year old girl over the Stale lines for illicit purposes"
Chuck Berry once opened a restaurant called The Southern Air in Missouri. According to a former waitress, Berry wired the women’s toilets with a video camera and recorded some two hundred unsuspecting patrons using it. Charges were dropped when Berry agreed to compensate the victims of his “potty cam” financially. Berry's touring style, traveling the "oldies" circuit in the 1970s (often being paid in cash by local promoters) added ammunition to the Internal Revenue Service's accusations that Berry had evaded paying income taxes. Facing criminal sanction for the third time, Berry pled guilty to tax evasion and was sentenced to four months in prison and 1,000 hours of community service—performing benefit concerts—in 1979.
