So in the last few weeks Su n me have completely stripped the bike and collected all the parts req for the rebuild. All the old parts have been cleaned and prepared and i should be painting the frame parts in the next week or so, this weekend we are detailing and prepping all the engine parts for assembly. Cleaned and polished the rods, new main bearing fitted and will go back together this week :)

So i managed to fit the rods to the crank with new big end shells and fit the crank into the new bearings and put the 2 crank case half's together, fitted 2 new lifter blocks and seals to the barrels and then have a trial fit of the barrels on the crank case :) Next job is fit new pistons and fix the barrels down.

Don't worry, i have a plan. The engine is at a stage that it can go back in the frame so i am prepping the frame over the rest of the week and i will paint all the frame parts next week. Su has booked the following week off work and she will be rebuilding the cylinder head and doing other bits :)

So i have managed to get most of the major frame parts painted, not doing my finger any good as had first look at it the night before last and its still open a bit, i have redressed it and left plastic splint off and today it looks much better by allowing some air to get to it :) Pix of paintwork so far, this will allow us to start rebuilding it next week with Su being off work :)

    Next week!
That will take an age to arrive, even for a mere interested onlooker like myself, you must be itching to get on with it!

Ouch! Know how that feels. Last year spinning up rear hub on a transit, caught third finger between rotating hub & caliper  ripped top of finger off, dangling by skin, split the bone, like a scene out of a horror movie, fecking blood everywhere. My missus was sick when she saw it! Hospital did a great repair job. No feeling in end of finger now though. 6 weeks & you'll be able to pick your nose again :)

Latest news, piston rings gapped and fitted, pistons on rods and barrels fitted :) cams are in and timed up. The rest of the engine will be done as soon as Su has finished the cyl head so we started assembling the frame parts.
