    Hey guys,

I recently had to lay down my bike (damn cage drivers). I cracked the front wheel fairing, broke off the wind screen, cracked the right rear fairing, and messed up one of my exhausts. Thankfully the mechanics of the bike are fine. It's mostly cosmetic damage.

I'm having trouble finding parts for the fairings due to the age. Does anyone have a reference for where I could find these (preferable in a matching color)?

Regarding the exhaust, it looks like I bent just the slip on Leo Vince (which is an older model). Should I try to bend back the pipe? Could I find a matching single exhaust so I don't have to replace both? Or do I need to just suck it up and buy a whole new set?

    Thanks, Alex

Welcome Alex. Bad luck with drop but at least you are still walking. Somebody will be here soon to advise.

Hi Alex. Sorry to hear about your recent misfortune. Getting gen.1 Street Triple parts in this country can be hard so getting them in 'lanna, jaw-guh ;) might be a very tough ask indeed! Obviously I can't give you any 'local' advice on parts supplies - hopefully somebody on your side of the pond will be able to do that - but my generic advice would be to first consider repairing the originals, especially if they really are just cracked and not broken. I assume by "front wheel fairing" you're referring to the front fender (or 'mudguard' as us Brits would say) and the "right rear fairing" is the underseat 'cheek' panel? These are, I think, moulded plastic so, as long as neither is missing any broken bits - especially lugs - then perhaps a local car body shop/repair specialist can repair and respray to colour match? Most modern cars have moulded plastic body parts these days so any good auto body repair/spray shop should have some experience of working with repairs to this material. If they really do need replacement then, clearly, ebay is your most likely source of new or used panels - much of this stuff is now considered obsolete by Triumph so finding NOS or good used is your best hope ... and google your best friend!

As far as the bent exhaust pipe is concerned, are there any decent custom exhaust/muffler shops local to you? The pipe will need heat and probably a suitable mandrel to get out any severe kinks so if that can't be done then you'll need a new slip on - assuming that's the only bent piece. Getting a single slip on that matches the existing will, again, be difficult so it may end up being cheaper to try to find a pair of replacements - and, perhaps, try to sell the other can. Oddly enough, you'll probably find it much cheaper to replace with used examples of the OEM silencers, especially the underseat type, which are big, heavy and generally unloved by ST riders seeking a more (self) satisfying exhaust note! :) The alternative is a new or used "lowboy" - a single muffler that deletes the Y-pipe and high level silencers.

I'd guess that none of the 'help' above sounds very helpful or hopeful for you right now but maybe it will give you some additional ideas and avenues to explore.

If you want parts numbers and factory descriptions this (UK) site should be invaluable :-

I don't know if the US main importer/distributor has a similar site for export models which can, sometimes, differ hugely.

Good luck with your rebuild/repair project and keep us updated on your progress and results, please. Your experience may help others in the future! Oh, and we like pictures - even the nasty "before" ones! :D

Could you post some photos of the damage, someone can then give you better advice as to whether the parts are repairable.
