    Hi Folks,

Ever since seeing one of these on Top Gear years ago. I've been saying I'll make one. As with a lot of similar plans/projects. It's never got past the thinking about it stage.

Today I spotted these for sale. It's a company that makes them not a guy in his shed. The quality & detail looks great to me but they ain't cheap. Having said that, I reckon that if I tried to recreate them to the same standard. I'd spend damn near the same amount of money?

Assuming you like them? And without going off & searching the web for prices. What would you pay for either or both of these & not feel robbed? When I told Mrs DD the prices she thought I'd lost the plot! :kissing:

Probably have to agree with Mrs D D on this one. Yes maybe for a showroom or garage or mot station. Think if I gave one to Tracy she would definitely kick me out with it.
    Regards
    Joe.

Mrs DD likes the bottle rack Joe but she's not keen on "Having an engine in the living room!"
She'll be even less keen when I tell her I plan to fit 2 sets of flashing orange LED's into each block & get them to mimic the firing order of the engine! :kissing:

The LED's will only be for special occasions though mate. i.e. when she goes out & my mates come round :grinning:

Don't worry I got a spare Bedroom you can have but without the engine Blocks.
    Regards
    Joe.

Cheers mate but she's cool with the idea. She just thinks they are way too expensive.

The orange LED's might be a game changer? But the engine blocks will be in place by then & too heavy for her to move! ;)

I asked you guys what you'd pay without feeling robbed Joe?
I think the price is steep but not outrageous? Mrs DD is not convinced though mate!

Me as well mate but I've been talking about it for years & not doing it.
It would have to be a V formation of some kind. Not an inline 4 cylinder.

I think it's chrome & gold powder coat Sprinter?
Cheaper than real chrome but a more expensive finish than ordinary paint & a lot more durable.

Inline 4 may provide more quantity sentimental buyers. Or better yet a air cooled vw.

You might do as I have. When our kids left home [actually when the FIRST one left] I took over one of the 3 bedrooms. It is kind of my cave. I have my computers in there, my miniture cars, trains, memorabilia from my working days, a flat screen TV, etc. If I wanted a chrome engine block in there, well so be it. I have claimed the space for my own. Many years ago. She can have to rest of the house. She seems good with that. We have been in this house 31 years. ...J.D.

It would be a rare woman who wanted one for domestic furniture.

I got reamed when she caught me fitting Chevy piston rings on my lap in the living room!!

Pretty cool looking but not convinced it would look right in our living room or most domestic environments. Can't see the other half being impressed either. Let's face it, most women have trouble accepting a pair of decent speakers into the house!

Hell yes wire wheels you rock, the women take over the house and their decorations without any regards to a man's opinion. This is the man caves. Being an engineer I have quite a collection of HO scale steam locomotives, mostly odd ball logging and mining equipment. Heislers, climax, Shay's etc, and lots of shorty rolling stock. Can't afford the HON3 stuff. Will mock up Malcolm furlows layouts with my own twists in my basement train room.

Mrs Duck reckons I have no idea about how much things cost....

Personally I think something is only worth what someone is willing to pay...

So I'm going to be way out...

I would possibly if I was drunk pay £150 for one but the wife would never allow it anyway....:(
