Went out for a ride on my new Speed Triple RS , when I got home I found seat cowl which come with bike had gone . It was fitted correctly and wondered if anybody else has had the same thing happen. I just put the regular seat back on which I must admit seemed to click down a lot better. £144 to replace I hear so I wondered if Triumph would contribute to replace haha
This was very common with the daytona 675's. I had one and had the same problem, dealer did replace but I felt the cowl hit me in the back so was able to stop and retrieve it. The replacement didn't even engage properly until modified. The best solution is to file a bit out of the notch on metal stud on the cowl. No help now I know, but if you get a replacement its something you should do. The cowl feels and sounds like it clicks in properly but its not, it needs a hard push down to engage properly. Far too tight from the factory IMO.
Thanks for the reply , unfortunately I have no idea where cowl went even after going out in car to look . I will ask dealer to see what they say , wish me luck.
The fact I had a damaged cowl to show them helped me get the replacement. Worth a try anyway. Good luck! Welcome to the forum by the way
I shaved off a bit from the rubber "washer" and as a recommendation from another user, checked the angle of the cut out on the seat to the actual latch on the bike. Fits way better now and luckily i've not lost it. speed rs btw.
Hi Jon and welcome to the forum best of luck with the replacement. Looking forward to seeing your ride
