Looks nice, I did the same to mine. Luckily I had replaced the rear foot pegs, just before I dropped the bike. The pegs were the only thing that saved the exhausts.
It’s the chance we take for a cleaner look. I never carry a pillion, so pointless also. Very lucky for you. I’ll bet it’s much cheaper to sort out a peg than an end can.
took my pegs off as well .informed insurance me only no pillon and got a further £50 reduction ..GOOD RESULT
wow, thought you were joking there. Its funny how "granular" the insurance companies can be in the UK. We are slowly getting there tho, this year I had three options that had an impact on the price * You are the only driver * You and drivers older than you are allowed/covered. * All drivers are allowed/covered.
I took the rear pegs off and the MOT man said "if you have a dual seat you need pegs otherwise its a fail" Mind you I don't suppose most on here have bikes old enough to need an MOT? (Hard hat on )
That's an interesting one....I took mine off as soon as I got the bike home. Wonder what the rule states if you've got a rear seat cowl...technically it's still a seat designed for two. Think I'll check this out, it's only a 15 minute job to put them back on but f I don't need to.
I’ve never had a problem with MOT from removing rear pegs. And I’ve removed them from every bike I’ve had. I have always had a seat cowl on though.
If it’s designed for two, then you have to have the rear pegs or you need to cover the rear half with a cowl of some sort. That’s my understanding of the rule anyway. But is a bit vague as it also says you can get away with just a grab handle; how that’s deemed safe I’m not sure.
MOT manual says: 6.2.6. Pillion seat This inspection does not include sidecar seats. If there is an optional cowl replacing or covering the pillion seat at the time of test, you should consider it to be a single seat motorcycle. Defect (a) A pillion seat: (i) with a defective supporting structure (ii) insecure Category Major Dangerous and 6.2.12. Footrests Single seat motorcycles do not need pillion footrests. If there’s an optional cowl replacing or covering the pillion seat at the time of test, you should consider it to be a single seat motorcycle. Some motorcycles first used on or after 14 June 1993 which are designed to carry a passenger may not be fitted with pillion footrests. Instead, they are fitted with hand holds attached to the frame or seat. Refer to the owner’s handbook if available.
