As you can see, the bike is stripped ready for new tyres. Michelin Road 5s, front & rear. £254 all in, slightly cheaper than last year.

That’s not going anywhere matey. The bar is 12mm steel with two locating lugs that slot into the bottom of the frame & on the bottom of the bar is a metal cup welded that fits snug into trolley jack. The axle stands are only there to take hydraulic pressure of the jack. Already had the jack & the stands. Total cost of everything else = zero. Happy days :)

Under the bike as the frame straddles the engine there are two (one each side) pre drilled loading plates, presumably for packaging / transportation purposes.
I’ll take some photos once bike back on terra firma.

First replacement set of tyres you will remember, were fitted in Scotland May2018. Michelin Road4, at 4,000 miles.
These have lasted 6,000 plus (odometer 10500 miles now) & there still have some left, so very pleased with longevity. However will not last for the entire GMU trip, so thought it wise to renew. I’m not making that mistake again :D

Part of the frame used for shipping. There’s plenty of clearance for the bolts up through the holes. Simples :)

Why TF can’t manufacturers put the tightening torque figures in the f****** manual? Just about to put wheels back in bike after tyre fitment. Rear hub 110Nm? Front spindle nothing. Front spindle pinch bolts nothing. Brembo front calliper mounting bolts nothing.
Can any one shed any light?

Think I’ll tighten rear hub to 110Nm
Front hub to a grunt & a fart
    Front callipers to a grunt
    Front spindle locks to ?
    :worried:

    Are those Ohlins forks?
Sure I read somewhere that the front axle pinch bolts if overtightened can crack the casting.
    Tighten carefully and evenly.

Well that was a mission. Tyres fitted to loose rims, no problem. Fitted rear wheel, no problem. The f******* front wheel was a different story. I posted this account on the Thruxton section, so if you can be bothered have look there. Anyway after a lot of swearing & head scratching normal service is resumed. Early days on the Michelin Road5s but feedback gets better with every mile ( only done 30 so far) Looking forward to the GMU
