Hi all, well here in France, the Prime Minister has just announced an extension of the lock-down to April 15, with the possibility of further extensions depending on the results of numbers of new cases/deaths and the population's acceptance or otherwise of the regulations in place. It is almost certain that we will be on lock-down until at least the end of April. Therefore my question is, do we need to start cancelling accommodation bookings - discuss ....... Dave
I'm all for waiting. There are 3.5 months still to go, so we could still make the event. As my old boss used to say "hold your nerve"
If you can’t make it due to the pandemic they are obliged to give you a full refund if you cancel on your own terms that might be questionable. I’ve been contacted by a couple of hotels cancelling my bookings and giving me a full refund, these were in April and early may though, I haven’t heard from later ones
I suppose I'm feeling a bit more pressured as : A. I've been under lock-down for 2 weeks already without a bike (Trixie sold completely out the blue) B. I can't start shopping for a new yet as I can't leave the house, C. I don't know how much lead time the new bike supplier will need. I hope you guys can see where I'm coming from ?
If you know what bike you are wanting can you not do a deal over the phone now and you can take delivery ahead of July? Or are all your dealerships closed?
I don't know for sure, but I think they're all closed. Just checked a few local dealers - all permanently closed.
I say hold your nerve. 12 weeks lockdown puts us about the middle of June. So even if they add a couple of weeks we'll still be alright.
He’s probably got his order in already @steve lovatt and the next thing is he’ll be turning up at Loomies, running it in by riding round the car park waiting for the place to reopen
Edit: Twice actually, but once was when a young lady smiled at him and he ended up buying a pair of riding trousers at last years NEC
If there’d been a young lady there Ade he would have paid full price like he did for those trousers he bought The daft old fool
Yup! Beginning to quite like it, ok it’s not I high revving sports bike but it would make a good one up sports tourer, very comfortable on the motorways, a very good all rounder.
