Now as a rule I do not ride in the rain if I can avoid it especially here in Bulgaria due to the poor driving standards and to prove the point on my home came across a car half in the ditch on an almost straight piece of road this is quite normal after a spot of rain the drivers cannot cope with a bit of wet roads and cannot seem the grasp that after hot dry weather that the road when wet might be a little slippery and do allow for it or slow down.

Needed to pop into town which is approx 20km and there was a bit of thunder rumbling about but only one or two spots of rain so thought would risk the Trophy and leaving the village was fine and did not meet any wet stuff until on the tops after leaving the shallow valley our village is in. Was not much and down the other side of the ridge into the next village where there was light rain however as I got to the next village rain became harder and on approaching the town it was raining properly so headed for the Petrol station as needed some and it has a cover over the forecourt the rain by now was really coming down so waited it out a bit before heading into town proper.

Bearing in mind that not only do I not like riding on wet roads and have never ridden on these Bridgestone tyres in the wet before was taking it nice and easy taking curves quite a bit slower than normal and treating junctions with extreme care there is a certain one that is always slippery due to the heavy artics ( Semi trucks)attending the storage plant (think it's sunflower seeds). Well was quite happy with the way the bikes and tyres performed though will not be making a habit of riding in the wet.

Yeah it used to be that way for me the worst one was after my first real ride on the Streetfighter I built rode it up to parents to show them the completed bike they had seen it being made as dad's workshop where I made lots of bits for it like the slab yokes (Triple trees) the risers, wheel spindles, rear brake pedal and fluid resevoir. Had fine ride up but about 40 miles into the 186 mile ride south the rain started at the 60 mile mark it became a full blown thunder storm at one point sheet lightning flash across the road about 20 yards ahead!!!

I have a set of nylon water proof leggings that I stopped and slipped on but only had my leather jacket and denim cut-off for the top. On getting home luckily some friends heard me arrived at my rented lock up and came out in the heavy rain to check on me I was so cold at that point could hardly move they helped off and up to my flat where I ran a hot bath and stripped off the sodden clothing and sank into it. Without their help I might not have been able to get off and put the bike away and get up the flat which was on the 7th floor. Of course when using t a motorcycle for every day transport and to work and back had to ride in what ever weather was happening but back then I was young.
