    Hi guys,
I was looking at the accessories list for the new RS in search of goodies that could be fitted to my 2016 Speed R when I came across the new "up-and-down" quickshifter. I then checked the accessories list for the S model (which has the same engine as my bike) and there it was as well. It should be compatible right?

The new S has the new engine as well.
Doubtful it'll work, it's an up and down shifter, so I would think different software unfortunately.

Oh really? I thought the S was unchanged. Oh well, too bad.

    2017 S is only up
2018 S is up and down
2019 S is up down, do the okey cokey and you turn around....

Up shifting is an easy retro-fit, down shifting is a whole different ECU software set-up. It will not be plug-n-play

Yeah, I sent an email to Triumph and they quickly confirmed that it's not possible to fit the new Quickshifter on older Speeds. That's a shame...

So the new Speed RS has got up and down quick shifter :), how come my Street RS only has the up version , anyone know why? and is there going to be an upgrade for the Street RS?

Street RS is almost as fast and certainly more nimble so Triumph have to justify the extra £4k somewhere.

Three Cross gave me a 2017 Speed R to play on while my Street RS was being serviced last summer, preferred mine for the reasons you point out plus the gearbox on the Speed felt positively agricultural in comparison, no QS on it and clutch less up changes weren't that great either. The Street RS is a great bike but the addition of clutch less down shift as well would make it better, my mates R1M has the auto blipper upgrade for down shifts, I rode that .... fantastic!

I found the 765RS very quick turning and light but a hungry beast that likes revs, hit 7-8000rpm and then takes off like a scalded cat.
The Speed I rode back to back with the RS was a lot more flexible and useable, but still quick enough steering for the road.

But I've always preferred a decent engine with torque rather than revs.

Yep, agree with what you say, I prefer feeling I am riding the wheels off something rather than under use more power than I need .... we all have differing opinions, expectations and riding styles or we would all be riding the same model bike!
Ride whatever floats your boat .... just don't put one of those feckng ugly top boxes on it! :):p:D

As does the BMW S1000RR & the naked version of it, can't believe you made mention the German manufacturer!
I know they are great, just want to know why Triumph in their infinite wisdom didn't think to include it on the Street RS, I dare say it will be a 'new model' upgrade along with different colours that will cost another 3 grand for 2019!

I agree, I had a Super Duke back in 2006 (pictured), loved it , only sold it because money git a bit tight following a change in circumstances :sob:. Have ridden my mates 1290 SD,170bhp naked and it is bonkers! Loved that too! thought about buying a 2 year old one of them or the new 765RS, in the end it was down to being realistic about whether I needed 170 horse power!

There are made by Alpine Stars, all the really cool KTM type riders were wearing them then along with the obligatory pink hair bun, I still have them somewhere if you wanna make an offer :p:D:joy:
