I thought I'd share this in case anyone else is interested.

I know that many of you prefer the blacked out look which I agree does look great. I also like chrome which is in keeping with the 60s/70's look so I bought the chromed engine and rocker cases when I ordered the bike.

I was never a big fan of the brushed finish of the monza style fuel cap so I decided to polish it. I bought a Pro-Max buffing wheel kit from Amazon & fixed it to my 1/2" bench grinder. I flattened the cap off with 400 and then 800 grit wet & dry, used wet. I found that this was important as the roughest sisal buffing wheel wasn't able to get rid of all the lines left by the brushed finish.

I'm happy with the result as it now matches the top yoke. I did the same with the two intake covers as well.
    Please excuse the cluttered garage.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback :)

I took delivery in late June last year. There was a long delay for the Track Racer kit so I spent the first six weeks getting to know the bike without the fairing.
As you can see the frontal area is only small. It's effect is to take some of the wind blast off your middle and chest area. So, although the effect is modest & of course it's no touring fairing, it's definitely there & makes rapid progress quite a bit easier.
To my eyes it just completes the look of the bike so well & it's very well made. The support bracket is brilliantly designed so there's no flex anywhere. I'm happy with the lower clip-ones too. A tad more weight on the palms but more feel for the front wheel.
    Cheers

You're not wrong Andy. The acoustics in there make it sound like an angry bull!

Looks smashing Lex. If you can take long distance riding on it why not pop over to the GMU 21-23 July and show us it in all its sparkling glory in the glorious Northumberland sun. :)

Haha! Doesn't hold its shine for long either. Constantly needed buffing up until I got bored of doing it.

    You need to lacquer it.
If you check back through some of the posts on polishing engine casings there are some good tips.

I just gave my fuel cap a couple of minutes, while iwas doin a few other bits. It don't take much to lose that brushed effect.
