Hi, am brand new to this, but have owned, maintained and restored three cylinder Triumphs for around 40 years.
I am trying to find someone who can diagnose the engine management on my '03 ST.
This problem has very slowly gotten worse over the last 15,000miles, since a high side which left the bike running on its side for 5mins or so, then as I went to pick her up in my dazed state, grabbed a whole lot of throttle for a millisecond.
Started as a very slight high frequency rattle, on gentle acceleration between about 2-3000rpm, thought it was the cam chain at first, checked all that, changed the tensioner, in the end I changed the engine....and it was still there, exactly the same!!
Now it has developed into a very harsh pinking, again only at gentle acceleration from low revs, plus on fast deceleration with closed throttle, a lot of backfiring.
all the usual suspects checked: exhaust and inlet for leaks, just swapped over the ecu with a mate's, still no change.
I suspect fuelling, but would like to have that checked before splashing out on new injectors/ throttle sensors etc (which are still the original ones).
thanks for reading, if anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be great.
