Train and bus pass in to Leicestershire villages tomorrow morning to pick up this bargain (I hope it proves to be anyway). Street Twin, registered May 2016, 366 miles on the clock, paying somewhat less than list. If I do part with the cash I'll post more details tomorrow evening.
You betcha. What a glorious ride home today. So nimble, responsive and planted - okay it runs out of steam at 80mph, but boy the low-end torque is just fabulous for overtaking. Mirrors are decorative only though. Took it over to Pure Triumph Woburn who coincidentally originally supplied it. I paid £5,000. The guys at Pure Triumph reckoned I got a real bargain. The chap I bought it from reckoned he paid £4,600 from the salvage auction people, then spent £300 on parts and labour getting it tidied up, but needed to cash in for a house he's buying to rent out. So although he was asking £5650 on Ebay, he was happy with my offer of £5k. Apart from the scuffs on clutch lever and bar end slider you'd never know it'd been in any incident.
I'm sure it will do the ton easily, just that there is none of the torque left at 80mph, it's all low down, so at 80mph there is no urgent pull away when trying to overtake for instance, just steady increase. btw, I'd posted elsewhere about it being damaged-repaired. I've dropped a bunch of pics in the Bonnie forum.
Glad you're happy Rich.... yeah the mirrors don't do diddly squat but hey ho. Hope you have many happy miles on it.
No doubt. I am soooo pleased I guessed right about auction-buyers psychology - the more are watching the less likely a 'buy it now' take up because everyone thinks 'hm, lots of watchers, but none buying, what do they all know that I don't? - and that I had the fortitude to wait till time out before contacting the guy to negotiate. Money 'saved' goes on extras (and ale).
Very nice bike Rich, mines the previous model to yours. The only thing I'm not keen on is the clocks as I prefere more traditional looks but on the whole it's a very curvy sexy bike.
Rich, you still have the same content grin on your face as displayed in your avatar-pic. Bikes make you happy, I guess! Congratulations, great choice!
