    Hey all,

Anyone fitted a performance air filter? Worth it? Any recommendation??
I have the arrows on, no baffles and a re-mapped.
When it went in for last service they were replacing all filters, I asked the question if I could upgrade the filter, they told me there is no point, stick to standard....

Doubt it will make much difference.
Probably 1-2 BHP.. And you would need to get it Rolling road tuned to see that if any improvement.
A mate put one on his R6 and it lost power. The rolling road we were at told him to put one on and they fitted it for him then when they retuned the bike it lost power.
The filter was too heavily oiled....
Luckily we had stayed to watch, and told them to put original back on.

The other thing about performance air filters too is that they don't filter as well as a standard filter (hence more airflow = more performance) but in my experience that also means more dust and rubbish in your carb/injectors which means less performance and more breakdowns! I always tend to stick with standard ones now as screwball said the extra 1/2bhp isn't worth the potential hassle

Although the above is correct you are suppose to spray the performance air filter regularly with oil so that any fine debris & dust sticks to it. Obviously you also have to regularly clean it & re-oil it. They are generally dearer than standard equipment but if maintained its a filter for life.

Was watching a YouTube clip from the guy that runs the T3 (Triumph trophy cup). He said most of his bikes use the standard air filter and you don't really need much more or your road bike...
If you did change then you would also need a remap (another £200) as you are altering the amount of air flowing into the engine, so in theory making the engine leaner.....(not good)..
