i usually say I'll do 7k a year on both my bikes when i get asked by my insurance company,I'm over the limit on my Triumph I've done about 8k on it so far this year, should i just keep quiet and wait until the renewal (feb 2017) or is there a bit of give and take regarding mileage?

    You give. :(
    They take.:)
    I think that's how it works :D
Oh and as to the question I don't know. Did you declare the milage when the insurance started or is it mot to mot? Can the insurance company prove how many miles you've done?

It's just a big grey area to me. They ask me how many miles but never a starting figure so it's open to abuse.

Over here if you elect for a limited mileage policy (to keep the price down) you must declare your current mileage at the outset of the policy.

Strangely though the amount of reduction is often so small that most peeps don't bother.

Well, they usually do the mileage in increments, lime 5000, 10,000 etc, or something similar, so if you declare 6000 they don't say you can do up to 10,000 so it might not cost you any extras, but if you if you inform them mid term they will prob charge you an admin for changing it. !! My feeling is get it done.

They didn't ask for the mileage when i took the policy out,I'm thinking as it's not due to have an MOT until March there's no way they can find out what the mileage was when i bought the bike?
Hogs only done 4.5k this year so yeah Ade i might just retire the Triumph for the winter..Maybe I'll just give them a ring and ask what the situation is IF i go over the limit ;)

Unless they get a starting mileage, don't see how they can do anything about it !!!

I used to run classic cars with restricted mileage policies. I spent about 6 months a year with the speedo disconnected !!!:D:D:D
