Tiger 1050 Opinions And Thoughts On A Tiger 1050

A friend is considering getting a bright orange 2006 or 2007 Tiger 1050 (from a main dealer) and wondered if any existing owners had views on the bike?

He's interested in:

1) Overall perceptions and like/dislikes.
2) Quality and Reliability - any known problems or issues to watch out for on an older bike?
3) What would be a good price to pay - unfortunately we don't know the mileage yet as it has just been delivered (part ex) for a twin of some description.
4) Are you likely to get a deal such as warranty etc on a bike like this?
5) Anything else you can think of that might be helpful in making a decision...

I've only had mine a few weeks, 2010 1050se, 7000 miles.
Build quality seems high, there's no corrosion anywhere on mine. Plenty of power and torque for real world riding (including with passenger).
It's quite a tall bike, so your friend will not want to be vertically challenged!
They tend to run a bit hot in traffic, although the fan keeps it under control. Worth checking that it has had a coolant change and flush.
I would guess about £3500 to £4500 depending on mileage and condition. I would hope you'd get at least a 3 month warranty from a main dealer.
The Triumph panniers, if it has them, are heavy and quite small.
I'm sure others who have owned for longer can give more in depth advice, these are just my findings so far.

I had a 2006 1050. Great comfortable bike. My wife loved it.
Only bad point is the atrocious lights so worth considering if frequently riding at night
