I finally got there chaps. Bell custom 500 arrived today. Took a gamble on the sizing as there are no returns. Fits like a glove. Yes, a well fitting glove. Shit saying that anyway. The lid is as light as a feather and seems seriously well made. Was out tonight and the only `teeny` fault, and this probably goes for all open faced lids is at around 60-70 it feels like its swelling on your head. No big deal though. Nice bit of kit.
same as mine and the wifes, for the speeds we do the helmets are perfect, fastening is a bit of a fiddle until you get accustomed to it though Curly
Currently have one of these, X-LITE X-201 ULTRA CARBON PURO very light, comfortable and good quality. Image doesn't do it justice as its high gloss with brown leather trimming.
Any thoughts on the new Bell Moto 3? I know it's not strictly open face but thought I'd see what you guys thought? https://www.bellhelmets.com/en_eu/powersports/helmets/culture/moto-3 Thinking of getting one once I'm back on the road as a treat...!
Hi there, i have a Davida and also a carbon fibre Bell 500, both open face and the Davida is far better, no lift, no noise, light and by far the best lid i have ever owned.
I see you've already received your new Bell, but I thought I would add this for the future readers of this thread that are trying to decide what type of helmet to buy. I assume that most won't scroll past DD's photograph. I'm a complete hypocrite campaigning for full-face or modular helmets, because I wear the LS2 Bobber with goggles. My excuses are 1) that I drive a hack, 2) I'm a very alert driver, and 3) because I'm on a hack, I'm definitely not carving-up the road. When I'm only on 2 wheels, I wear a Nolan 104. For the next readers of this thread, take a look at this article that shows where helmets get hit in accidents (35% on the chin). I may have this wrong, but I believe that Icon obtained this information from the Hurt Report. https://motorbikewriter.com/crash-statistics-motorcycle-helmets/ I've also included the left side photo from the Icon study that isn't shown in the article.
